3 STEPS
follow our recommended steps for maximum performance
Step 1
BT CHOPPER®
STALK ROLLS
AND GRASS KNIVES
Effective stalk rolls are critical for a top-performing corn head. Years of development and extreme testing have earned the BT Chopper® the distinction of the The World’s Only All-Weather Stalk Roll™
The BT Chopper’s® patented “open window” feeding chamber delivers superior feeding and processing of stalks in all crop conditions.
The 10 razor-sharp blades on each stalk roll cut, chop and shear cornstalks into confetti-like pieces for accelerated decomposition. This helps reduce a management pass across the field, improve your planting experience and increase yields. Calmer Grass Knives match the curvature of the BT Chopper’s®
redesigned nose to prevent the back wrapping of grasses and weeds.
STEP 2
MULTI-ZONE BEVELED STRIPPER PLATES
“We have a 608c corn head. the original Deere knife rolls we were very disappointed in. Calmer’s rolls really chewed up the stalks like we wanted. Very pleased!”
Reduce Butt Shelling and
Decrease “Trash” Into Combine
Calmer’s Patented Multi-Zone Beveled Stripper Plates have a wider front opening to minimize the bulldozing of cornstalks when not fully aligned with the row The front retrieving area of the plates is designed with a straight contour to reduce ear wedging problems. The stripping area of the plates is beveled to allow the stalk rolls to engage the ear shanks, leaves and husks, which significantly reduces trash intake into the combine. The patented beveled edge better matches the rounded bottom of the corn ear to reduce kernel loss by displacing the energy around the base of the corn ear.

STEP 3
Chrome-pin gathering Chains
Chrome-pin gathering chains come with all Calmer Upgrade Kits to replace worn factory chains. The durable chrome-pin design lasts longer and is more durable than traditional black-pin chains.
Only Available for 600 Series Corn Heads.
Big picture Economics
Midwestern farmer, George Roberts, breaks down the cost benefits of installing Calmer’s Upgrade Kit on his factory John Deere corn head. Whether you want to improve soil health, increase nitrogen return, reduce a tillage pass, improve planting operations, or increase yields, Calmer’s Upgrade Kit makes the difference.

OEM PROBLEM
No Feeding Chamber
No stalk roll will perform properly without a feeding chamber in the entry area. Factory John Deere rolls have the same length flutes and therefore a continuous overlap in the entry area, which creates a wall of rotating steel and prevents the the entry of cornstalks.
Mechanically, this flawed design results in the premature wear in the first few inches of the stalk roll, while the remaining length of the blades stay in “like new” condition since stalks cannot travel further up the row unit.
Cornstalks failed to enter the knife chamber, resulting in little residue-to-soil contact and slow decomposition rates.
CALMER SOLUTION
Patented “Open window” Feeding Chamber
Through in integration of multi-length blades, the Calmer BT Chopper® Stalk Roll is the only stalk roll on the market with a patented “open window” feeding chamber, which enables cornstalks to travel efficiently into the row unit to become processed.
This design performs in all crop conditions, guarantees the traction of stalks for processing, results in longer stalk roll life, reduces low ear snap, and prevents the bulldozing of stalks at the end rows.
Cornstalks EASILY enter Calmer’s patented “open window” feeding chamber to be chopped.
OEM PROBLEM
NON-AGGRESSIVE FLUTES
Limited Residue-to-Soil Contact
OEM stalk rolls on John Deere 600 and 700 series corn heads have too much overlap in the entry area, which prevents cornstalks from entering into the stalk rolls to become processed.
Failing to properly process cornstalks prevents residue-to-soil contact, leading to the immobilization of important nutrients on the soil surface, additional tillage needed, slower degradation rates, and a wet mattress of residue in the spring.
Cornstalks failed to enter the knife chamber, resulting in little residue-to-soil contact and slow decomposition rates.
CALMER SOLUTION
10 intermeshing Razor-sharp blades
Superior Residue-to-Soil Contact
Calmer BT Chopper® Stalk Rolls will enable your John Deere 600 or 700 series corn head perform and process cornstalks better than any other roll available on the market.
Once cornstalks travel through our patented feeding chamber, 20 intermeshing, razor-sharp blades cut, chop, and shear cornstalks into confetti-like pieces. This process exposes the pith of the stalk and places the residue strategically over the row for superior residue-to-soil contact, accelerated decomposition, easier planting and higher yields!
Calmer Stalk Rolls allow for superior residue-to-soil contact and rapid decomposition..
OEM PROBLEM
Straight STRIPPER PLATES
Factory John Deere stripper plates are not designed to match the natural bottom shape of the corn ear, which causes kernel loss upon impact by displacing all the energy on one kernel.
This flawed design also prevents the stalk rolls from engaging and processing the leaves, husks and ear shanks at the corn head. Instead, the husk stays attached to the ear and sends it and more material other than grain (MOG) into the combine.
Factory John Deere stripper plates increase kernel loss and trash intake
CALMER SOLUTION
Patented Multi-Zone Beveled Stripper Plates
Calmer’s Patented Multi-Zone Beveled Stripper Plates are wider in the front retrieving area to help prevent the bulldozing of stalks when not fully aligned with the row. The flat front retrieving area to reduces ear wedging problems and, the beveled stripping area allows the stalk rolls to engage more ear shanks, husks, and leaves, reducing trash intake into the combine.
This design better mimics the rounded butt of the corn ear which does a better job at displacing the energy that causes butt shelling.
Calmer Stripper Plates reduce kernel loss and trash intake to increase profits
Determine your Row frame Design:
600 Series Model Identification
You must verify the row frame unit design on your John Deere 600 series corn head prior to ordering. If your corn head is the old frame design with the 8-tooth drive and idler sprockets, you must verify the shaft design. See the below section for more information.
600 – OLD ROW FRAME:
8-tooth drive and 8-tooth idler gathering chain sprockets
600 – NEW ROW FRAME:
6-tooth drive and 6-tooth idler gathering chain sprockets
Determine your Shaft Type:
600 Series Model Identification
If your 600 series corn head is the older frame design with the 8-tooth drive and 8-tooth idler gathering chain sprockets, you must verify your shaft design before ordering.
